Nasha Gallery is pleased to present recent paintings by London-based artist, Simone Griffin. The
presentation includes works made in her London studio as well as works produced prior to her debut solo
exhibition New Year's Resolution with Nasha in 2022.
Simone Griffin’s paintings are about the interconnectedness of matter. Through her research, she finds
parallels between Aboriginal and Western sacred stories.
In Aboriginal culture it is believed that the sky country above holds the information for what is beholden
to us here on earth - the ebb and flow of the solar system is able to prompt and predict what is to happen
here on country and inversely so, from the bottom up. ‘As above so below’ is a term that transcends
multiple cultures and belief systems.
The phrase first appeared on the cryptic Emerald Tablet. The Hermetic text was highly regarded by Islamic
and European alchemists as the foundation of their art. This is where the body of work stems from and
fuses the matter between.
