Simone Griffin’s multidisciplinary practice incorporates painting, photography, installation and moving image.
Her intuitive approach to painting reflects a desire to blend worlds, both practically and conceptually. By utilising an industrialised tool, the airbrush, to apply dot work, Griffin emphasises a confluence between Western Formalism and traditional Indigenous Australian painting.
Griffin received a BFA (Honours) from the National Art School, Sydney (2014). She was an Indigenous Emerging Finalist in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize (2021) and was awarded the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation Drawing Prize at the National Art School (2013). Simone has participated in several group shows nationally.
