Miserable false ideas
Melbourne Art Fair
19 – 22 February 2026

James Little was born in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his MFA at the National Art School in 2024, following a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT University in 2012.

This solo presentation followed Little’s exhibition, DRINK BLEACH, shown at our gallery in Haymarket in November 2025. In Miserable false ideas Little has leaned right into “hobby culture” sources for inspiration, previously only subtly referenced in his works. The broad materiality and subject matter of the works traces concepts around masculinity and moral fantasies, merging 3D-printing, metal fabrication, watercolour and drawing, creating tension between tradition and modernity, aggression and tenderness, weakness and strength.
