Rosemary Lee’s work consists of detailed coloured pencil renderings which reflect her surroundings. She seeks inspiration from the areas she frequents, usually around where she lives and works. With these sources Lee creates imagined scenes and distilled representations of her experience. She achieves this by combining scenes from various locations to create non-existent landscapes, and by incorporating portraits and objects into her compositions. In addition to this, Lee likes to play with colour, tone and perspective to elicit certain atmospheric effects. Her influences include, but are not limited to, anime and min-hwa painting.

Lee has exhibited in institutional galleries including, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Rockhampton Museum of Art and S.H. Ervin Gallery. Later this year Lee will be presenting exhibitions in the Art Gallery of NSW, Western Sydney University and the Campbelltown Art Centre. Lee was the recipient of the 24th Dobell Drawing Prize and the Waverley Art Prize 2025.
